Peaches Gillette, Board Chair — The Intimate Whimsy of the World Around Me

My life is about being intimately engaged with all that is around me.

Peaches Gillette and Tommy Beers, co-authors of the poetry and art book, Walking the Land. Her other book is The Breadth of a Tree.

Every person I meet, every object I perceive, becomes a reminder, and an opportunity to embrace all that completes what we refer to as life: visual beauty, birth, growth, struggle, pain, joy, resolve, determination, death.

I want to deepen my understanding of each of these parts of our existence through my constant interactions with my environment, my community, the world as a whole. I want to approach each with love, curiosity, condolence, tenderness and sometimes fiery compassion. I want to sit or walk with others on a daily basis (this includes within my dreams) and simply talk about these shared pieces of our time together on this earth. I want to experience the sacred in all things, being both student and teacher at all times.

There is wisdom in all things, and that wisdom is an energy that is continuously, reciprocally transmitted and absorbed

My journey through this life is about the acknowledgement of the beauty in this world, beauty in all its shapes and forms; my journey beckons me into a chance to feel the oneness of all things. This is a journey that has no end, a blessing, a journey that must be shared; this is my journey.

I invite all to walk with me, sit with me. (Email Peaches.)
